Rio de Janeiro
One of our oldest centers is the Mordechai Anilevitch Cultural Center in Rio de Janeiro. Today, this Batei Tarbut hosts events throughout the year and gathers over 100 people in its programs, chaguim, and courses. In recent years, it has annually offered cultural weeks during Sukkot, Passover sedarim, as well as numerous book launches, lectures, and community discussions.
Currently, it offers a music course that reimagines Jewish songs with a carnival rhythm, a social activism branch with weekly meetings, Ulpan courses, and a recently launched documentary in partnership with Meretz Brasil about the experiences of non-white Jews in the Jewish community of Rio.
