The Sananes-Bargraser House of Culture is named in honor of Moises Sananes and Netty Bargraser, journalists and founders of the Venezuelan Jewish pro-Palestinian committee (1947), made up mostly of non-affiliated members identified with the Zionist cause, achieving Venezuela's vote in favor of the partition of Palestine and the creation of the State of Israel. These little-remembered figures represent the diversity and plurality that guides the House of Culture: man and woman, Sephardi and Ashkenazi, Jewish and non-Jewish, humanist and Zionist.
Casa de Cultura Sananes-Bargraser, or Beit Tarbut of Venezuela, began activities in 2023 as an independent and alternative space of the Hashomer Hatzair family, recently created to support, promote, disseminate, and strengthen Venezuelan Jewish culture, Zionism, and Israel, integrating with the Houses of Culture in other countries.
It is an open, plural, and diverse space in which all tendencies and views participate with respect for origin, religion, politics, and sexual orientation, while remaining aligned with the objectives mentioned above, and which allows for the personal and collective fulfillment of its members, with each defining their activities and programs.
